is there any software to convert variable bit rate music to constant bit rate?

i burnt a CD for my pioneer home theatre..and it doesnt play VBR tracks.

Converting from VBR to CBR would mean a lossy to lossy transcode. Lossy to lossy transcoding is bad to do as it compounds lossy artifacts.

Foobar or dBpoweramp should do the re-encoding. I haven't tried doing a VBR to CBR transcode using either of them, but either of them should be able to do it.

I don't use dBpoweramp, but with Foobar, it will do it, but it will throw up a warning, stating know exactly what you said: that lossy-to-lossy transcodes are not recommended, and introduce more loss of quality than will be expected.

Nocturnal310, if you still have lossless copies of the music somewhere (even if it's a hassle to get them), I recommend encoding using those. Encoding an MP3 to an MP3, even at a high bitrate, introduces more artifacts than you probably expect. It's like using a very good video camera to record a movie in a theater; it's just not the same.

How about just using LAME?
You do not mention which codec the files are currently encoded with and what you want to convert to. But I take a wild guess that it is MP3...
