I've been to a few company presentations (Bain, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey, LEK) and it sounds interesting.
Anyone here ever worked in management/strategy consulting? What's the scoop?

I work for a very large consulting firm and have been there for almost 8 years. I'm involved with outsourcing which allows me to do what I do from home which makes me very fortunate. It's a very good living...I mean, I'm not going to get rich, but I'm able to support my wife and 2 kids on my salary alone. I have worked for other smaller consulting firms where I traveled every week. Those jobs did not offer the best quality of life, but the work was interesting and I never got bored.

It's a trade-off like everything else. If you want to advance quickly and make very good money and always be challenged, then traditional consulting is a very good career path. The downside is that you give up your life to the firm because you are always traveling and you work long hours. You decide.

There are certainly worse ways to earn an honest living. Just make sure you can deal with the inevitable traveling required.
