I'm getting a Total Bithead to use with my HD580's. But I have speakers too -- Klipsch's ProMedia 2.1, nothing too fancy -- and since the Bithead is also a DAC, I thought I'd run them through it and quit using my Mac's onboard sound. Is this a bad idea? In the Bithead's FAQ, they say:

"A. No, it does not have a separate line out. You can use the headphone jack with confidence though; remember that, as a general rule, headphone amp outputs are just like good preamp outputs."

Is this true? Or ought I invest in a good sound card? I'm tight on funds, but I'll do it (eventually) if need really be.

EDIT: I imagine I'd want to switch the crossfeed off if I used speakers with it, right?

Shouldn't be a problem! Large speakers is another issue!
