Confirmation of the leftward skewed nature of Foobar's spectrum analyzer

I was just listening to a particular song that starts with a male singing without any music. I was watching the spectrum analyzer on Foobar2000, and noticed that the lowest peak for the last vowel on the word "glory" was around the second or third frequency bar in the spectrum (primarily the second bar).

The average value for the first formant of this vowel in male speakers of American English is around 270-280 Hz. This is the lowest resonating peak for this vowel. Granted, there will be lower frequency information, as low as the fundamental frequency, but the average fundamental frequency for SAE males can't be much lower than, say, 150 Hz.

This means that the spectrum analyzer has a low end frequency display that bottoms out somewhere between 200 and 250 Hz, I'm guessing.

Huh... not exactly "full range" information...

Point of the story: if you've got a lot of activity in the nether region of Foobar's spectrum analyzer, that doesn't mean that your music is necessarily reaching the depths of all known bassdom.

Maybe it's linear?
