I lost my great stereo 3 yrs ago in a terrible divorce. So, now I am using my sound card with powered computer speaks (powered sub and left/right speaks) in every room, wired thru the attic, down one common wall behind the computer. I soldered 1/8 inch mini female ends to the wire at all speaker ends, and on the computer end of the wire, I am using a monster computer speaker selector switch box (this is an ohm balanced powered speaker selector, not like the radio shack model, which is unpowered and not ohm balanced). My problem is that after more than 3 rooms are selected there is a noticable drop in volume and quality of sound coming out of the speaks.
I believe that what I need to do is do away with the speaker selector switch box, which is really meant for a powered amp sending power to dumb (unpowered) speakers. I would then run the wires together in parallel , so that the micro amps that the sound card sends out would run possibly thru a distribution amp then out to all seven rooms where the powered computer speaks would pick up the small signal and then amplify it using it's built in amp inside the speaker. Just not sure if it can be done in parallel wiring, or if a distribution amp is correct, and then finding an amp that is inexpensive that will send the signal to all seven rooms. Do you guys have any thoughts.
Thanks
