Hey Euclid - it amazes me how much cable manufacturers charge just to assemble and color code three identical cables as component video cables. Get the very best RCA-Male to RCA-Male Terminated RG59U Video Cable (like Mogami makes and just use three of them. You'll save $100 and will get a better picture as well

I have the Bluejeans cable. A no-nonsense cable well made with very good Canare rca's and Belden 7710. Hard to beat at $48. You could save a few bucks by getting all the parts and building it yourself but at that price its hardly worth it. Its even cheaper if you get it as three separate 1694A cables $42 for all three cables. Highly recommend Bluejeans.

Good call RnB. These are great, but you will need a crimper for the center pin and barrel piece for the bottom and a coax stripper would be pretty helpful.

I got mine from dan kapps from heartland cables, Im pretty happy with them, to make them yourself would require you to drop $200 upfront for propriety canare tools.

I use the Acoustic Research brand and am very happy with them. You can get them at Best Buy etc. If you need to get cables fast, I would go that route. I would never use that brand for audio but video is different. Especially since I just have a regular old Toshiba 27".

Spend less of your money and go with Blue Jeans Cables' Component Video Cables: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/component/index.htm . I got a 12' long run and it only cost me $60 USD plus an additional $10 USD for shipping and handling fees. I placed the order very early Friday morning and I got them on Tuesday safe and securely. These are some very excellent cables and I also own some Blue Jeans Cables Stereo Audio unbalanced RCA cables as well. I swear to you that even in my "high end audiophile reference system" that I can hardly tell the difference between BJC stuff and my very expensive Cardas cables. I can also vouch for a fact that the very cheap and inexpensive Radio Shack component video cables actually degrade audio and video quality due to shoddy materials used and craftsmanship. So, don't look to go too cheap or you'll put a handicap on your AV system.

yea i noticed that in order to strip and crimp myself id need to buy the tools. im just going to order from bluejeans, it the same exact setup i would diy and after i order the materials i'd only be saving like $15.

again, does anyone know if cable length makes a difference in image quality?

welly wu, is the 7710a managable as far a flexibility is concerned?

regards,
ian

There would be no perceived difference between 6 and 15' cables; however a slight difference above 50'

This assumes the center conductor of the cables is 22AWG RG59U.

This is what I use for home theater installations (x3 cables, with BNC-RCA right angle adapters:

BTX Model #YV-BBN6 Super-Flex BNC m-m Assy.Mogami 2964, Neutrik BNCs. 6ft BK $33.82 ea.
