I'm considering purchasing these earphones.

Listening tastes range from jazz, classic rock, blues to electronic, trance...

I'm looking for nice isolation from external noise, deep bass and clear highs.

I have just begun my research, and I was wondering which other similar earphones in this price range might be worth to consider too.

The only worthy competitor that I can think of (and that others will probably tell you), is the Westone UM2's. They seem to have a fan following around here, much more so than the Shure E5c's. Plus their cheaper, ALOT cheaper, so I don't see why you shouldn't get them instead.

Personally I'm going to get the UM1's. The UM2's are a bit out of my price range for now.

Thanks firefox,

I'm sorry, I must have an ass for a head, I was actually thinking of the E2c instead!

The E5's are over my budget at the moment.

So what are the competitors for E2c's?

er6i generally better then e2s. Do a search for the difference. I refuse to post again today on the same subject.

e2 - $65
er6i - $80
UM1 - $110
Super.fi 3 - $79

For the price I go with 3's or er6is

Shure e4s--even though cheaper, is a better iem in my opinion. The e5s definitely do not have clear highs--they sound kind of dark overall. The bass on the e4s doesn't thump as much, but it goes deep and is tight.

It's alright, most of us also make mistakes.

A few good competitors for the E2c's would be the Westone UM1's, the Etymotic ER6i, and the FutureSonic EM1's.

The Westone UM1 has been getting alot of attention lately for being pretty cheap and literaly kicking the E2c's ass in terms of sound, with a tighter low-end and a nice crisp high and mid...

The Ety's ER6i's are also worthy contender, but some people find their bass quantity a bit lacking.

The FutureSonic EM1's aren't mentioned much around here. But their at the same price level as the E2c's and from what I read they sound pretty good.
