I'm thinking about trying out some Grado's on my HR-2 amp. and was wondering if anyone had experience with both theses headphones? I'm a Sennheiser guy, so I have no experience with Grado or Alessandro headphones.

I couldn't find any reviews of the MS2 via Google, so I'd appreciate some info. Is the search function back on in Head-Fi?

In short:
Sr-325 -> Brighter, has more slam, works well with rock but other wise it's to harsh IMO. Very good with rock, but your almost limited to just that type of music. Not worth the money IMO.
Ms-2 -> Smoother, has a neutral tone, possibly more detail but it's about the same, works well with all music. I am amazed with what this headphone can do. It's calm, it's detailed, it's extremely musical and really makes you want to tap your foot. Well worth the money IMO.

I was also thinking of purchasing a pair of SR 325 or Alessandro MS2. From other people i hear the MS2s just sound better..

I can't speak for MS2, but when I auditioned the SR-325 with bowls it was painfully bright even for Metal and Rock.
By the way, which pads are supplied with the MS2?

Bowls of course, all new grados come with bowls other then the sr-60 and ms-1. Flats are a MUST with the ms-2 though.

Bowls. You want flats with the MS2. Flats, MS2's, MAD EAR Purist HD and a good source is a fantastic combo.

man i can't spend 30 bucks on flats right now, i just ordered Sik Imp for 36 bucks - i needed a car charger and instead of buying that Monster Cable one, I did my research on head-fi and got the imp. now i can line out to my heart's content too - through my rat shack males to a tube mp (future upgrade?)

but i digress. i called up Alessandro today and my MS-1s should come in tomorrow. no bowls, eh? well some folks say comfies are better than bowls, so maybe i'll mod them by cutting the hole in 'em, and try to hide a flat pad purchase in next month's credit card bill somehow. i wonder what my level of comfort will be, since I wear glasses.

this hobby is getting expensive...

Trust me flats will make a better improvement then an amp! Bowls + ms-2 = no good

edit/ ms-1 should be ok with comfies though, sorry I thought you had a ms-2 because of your avatar

haha yep i tried showing a ms-1 through the avatar, but the damn thing was too black. i needed an ms-2 to be shiny enough to read "Alessandro" and "Grado" both.

the ms-2s have less rabid highs, less mid-bass and more lower bass. they have a slightly drier, less fatiguing presentation.

and imo soundstage on the ms-2s is wider, by, oh, maybe 2 inches vs the sr325's 5 inches or so? heh.

I've heard everything from the MS1s being between the SR80 and SR125 to them besting the SR125s altogether. I've always seen them regarded as a very good deal.
