companies that made a more expensive product in the usa then switched production to china kills the resale value for the owners of the usa product! they will do as they wish but i do not see this as fair. case in point, the usa psaudio gcha was $999 and the new chinese one with more features(xlr) is $499. now how could i get a fair price for my usa gcha if i wanted to sell it? prs guitars did the same thing. so have countless other companies. i feel they should think about their original loyal customers somehow.

china and usa. the problem is paul going and making them in china completely killed their value. a dragon II is worth is worth nothing anymore i found out.

So you're basically complaining about resell value then?  Resell value often nosedives when a new edition comes out or a major change is made.

Why would they care about resale value?

I would think that like Fender guitars, the USA made versions would maintain a separate, higher value than the Korean, Japanese, ( although some of the Japanese models are now maintaining good re-sale values because they were so well made)  and Mexican versions.  That's why when they're sold used, people are sure to mention "USA made", if it is.  In fact, now that there will be less USA made PRS guitars being made, it might even increase the resale value of existing ones.

Is that always the case though? I've seen online, several times, enthusiasts will do extensive homework on editions and models of things to know what they want. Like with books, I've seen several cases where somebody who is collecting a particular collection by a particular author will go to huge lengths to research the book publisher and specific publish date to make sure he is getting the exact book he wants for his collection. I'd assume that if this were an issue with, say instruments, enthusiasts would go out of their way to spend a bit more to ensure the instrument they are purchasing is the edition that was still made in USA if that were the case...

well with guitars the usa models are usually coveted. i do find mexican and japanese fenders to be very good but thats another thread.

as far as electronic components unless they are very high end i am just guessing switching production of the same exact model and adding more features will leave the usa product owners in a bad spot. i could be wrong. no, companies need not be concerned with resale value unless they are one of those companies that really go the extra mile for their customers. i could be wrong about this too, maybe the usa model is worth more on ebay or whatever. certainly not at a pawn shop. they will look at the price and thats it. than again i do not usually frequent pawn shops.

with prs the very coveted usa models have lost their value i am told. i do not know if this is true or not. i have not researched it enough.

as far as small electronics botique companies go the higher end model retains it's value. for instance a french yba or usa krell are worth more than chinese ones used. so far at least.

i guess really i was just upset with psaudio switching a lot of production from cullen circuits to china. cullen circuits is a very high quality manufacturer. i know nothing about the chinese ones. the chinese power cords are good though but i do not think they ever were made in the usa. psaudio is just "jobbing" now on a lot of products. they are still a fine ethical company imo. evryone there is still very nice.
i understand companies just can not compete making some stuff in the usa.

anyways my gcha is cullen factory upgraded/modded. so mine hopefully holds it's value. i am not selling it anyways i was just concerned.
as i have mentioned before, it is one heck of a headamp with the mod and even without it.

for folks wanting a great amp at a good price there is the new one from china i guess. that is, if it is the same exact thing. i don't know. knowing psaudio it probably is. unless they are now using chinese caps, resistors etc. i have no reason to think that they are doing that though. honestly i have no idea either way.
