Communicating w/headphones

I have had this thought lately, about wearing headphones with microphones while talking to eachother in big rooms. For example at work, if there's lot of noise or just distance from one another. Or at a vorspiel - listen to music and talk to each other on top of the music. (music is sidechain compressed)

Are there any sources that are made for this in particular? Laptop is too big to carry around, and mobile-phones will cost money pr minute if used.
