I would think they are referring to low output impedance from the head-amp.

Is it a Bartok competitor?
I would say yes and also no. I have never heard a Bryston CD player or DAC that could compete with DCS. However, they are usually good at their price point. So unless this has a brand new dac that is superior to everything else in Bryston’s line up it will not compete with the Bartok in my opinion. However, it might be good value for its price point and it is also a preamp for your home system. Tks.

It reads like that to me, though it says it is also a preamp which makes me think it might be more for a 2 channel set up with the extra of having a headphone output. The only thing missing is a 2 channel amp and then it would be a high end receiver. We need someone to test it out.

Not really. The DCS Bartok has some digital inputs and they incorporated streaming, but it is not what I would call a preamp. The Bryston BR-20 is their top of the line preamp. It can handle 10 different digital inputs including HDMI (the Bartok cannot) and it also provides 4 analog connections including one that can be used for phono. The Bartok does not have this switching capability. Bryston essentially created their new TOTL preamp and then gave it a dac, streaming and a headphone output. The Bartok is not a preamp, but a streaming DAC that I would connect to my 2 channel preamp. Tks.
