Having read the reviews here and elsewhere for the HD595s I think I've found the right headphones for me. However, I haven't been able to try on a pair yet, and comfort is a big thing for me.

I have tried on the HD555s, though, and found them to be pretty much exactly what I'm after. Does anyone know if there's any great difference between the two in terms of padding, and the amount of space around the ears?

Thanks in advance, and to all those who've already posted about the HD595s - it's been really helpful in choosing them.

I've had both of these at different times so I can't say this in total confidence that my comparison is accurate. Just what I'm remembering.

The HD555 is noticeably lighter than the HD595, which lends greatly to the HD555's comfort. The HD595 has more cushy padding, probably more ear room, and clamps with less force than the HD555. The HD595 was more comfortable for me than the HD555 in large part because I listened to them primarily while reclined which made it's extra weight a non issue. The HD555 was so light and comfortable I often forgot I had them on.

i had both at separate times... and the hd595 seemed to have more ear space... other than that, both are almost identical in terms of comfort. (to me at least)

The 595 is terrifically comfortable. Fear not, O Uncertain One. Take the plunge and you'll never be sorry.

Yes, but still not enough ear space

. My ears were still touching the protruding plastic thing in the cup.
