I treated us to a new Gaggia Coffee machine like this one and as expected the coffee is fine. I'm a latte lover.

But the new fangled frother

I end up mainly with cold milk froth as it sucks the milk through too quickly. I've ordered the older Panerello wand to see if that's more to my liking since I have the jugs, thermometer etc for frothing already.

So coffee experts out there any tips?

Anyone using the old wand or new gizmo?

hmm... that's an odd sort of frother. I've used the older wand style ones, but never that one.. what exactly does it do? It just looks like a steel wand steamer, but with a cover... what does the cover do?

Sorry that site did not show the new frother it's this one the 'new automatic' frother.

The panerello wand is the usual plastic bit that goes on the pipe or the 'old manual frother' I suppose.

so rather than frothing the surface and then sinking the wand, the tube on the bottom (I assume) shoots steam up from the bottom of the cup, and the wand is there for surface frothing at the same time? Is that how it works?

If it is, I'd suggest plugging up the new frother, and frothing the old fashioned way - first surface until you get a good inch of froth (or however much you like - more froth is a sweeter tasting milk) , and then sinking the wand till you hit the desired temp.
