Coby MPC751...?

I have this, and can give you some thoughts.

First, the sound quality is very good with with my Koss-KSC-75 headphones and with my Grado SR-60s. However, there is noise with very high impedence headphones like my Shure E2Cs. I suspect that an in-line volume control will eliminate the noise. This seems to be a problem with many AAA based players and high efficiency phones like the Shure. With the Koss or Grados, this player sounds better than the Creative Zen Nano Plus that I also have. In fact, it's the best sounding flash-based player I've heard. It apparently has a Samsung sound chip.

Second, it has SD card expansion which is good. However, the files on the SD card appear separately from the files in memory - it doesn't combine them. Also, it will not remember where you turned it off when playing files from the SD card (it will remember from the built-in memory). People have reported no problems with 2 gig cards. I've had no problems with 1 gig card, even though the manual says "max 512mb."

Third, it works great with rechargeable AAA nimh batteries.

Fourth, the screen scrolling speed is very low, which makes it hard to read long file names (or folder names) on the screen.

I'd say build quality is about what you'd expect for a player in this price range (while sound quality exceeds what you'd expect). It looks very nice, but it's not apple build quality. Some people have had trouble with the menu butten going out.

Overall, I think it's a good player, but it's not perfect (what is). I like it better than the Zen Nano plus. $49 is a pretty good price.

Let me know if you have other questions.
