I finished my first Cmoy amp last weekend (thanks Tangent) and have noticed that the right channel sounds just a bit louder than the left channel. I only notice it with my HD 600s, not with my Grado SR225s or ER-4Ps. Should I:

a) Do nothing because I'm probably just imagining things.
b) Go back and make sure the feedback resistors are matched (I did this originally when I put it together).
c) Lower the gain from 11 to, say, 5.
d) Throw away my defective HD 600s (I don't hear any channel imbalance with other sources).
e) Scrap it and build a META mint.

Thanks.

Maybe your volume control isnt tracking properly.
I avoid this issue by always using a seperate volume
control for each channel. This allows you to fine tune the
volume and avoid using balance pots. Yes, I know its double
the cost but I have always favored the dual volume control
setup.

Just reverse the pot, use the R channel on the place where the L was before and see if the problem persists, if it does is not the control, if it follows the control, just replace the pot...IMO this is the easy way

4fatcatz: I'm using a Serpac H65 enclosure, so I don't have the real estate for two pots. Plus, I'm sure I'd get annoyed with that design pretty quickly. Good idea though.

Sovkiller: I will definitely try this out. For some reason I was thinking it had something to do with the high impedence of the HD 600s (although even I don't see how), but a faulty volume pot sounds much more likely.

Thanks.

Another suggestion, go to the point this happen, unsolder it and measure it with a meter, it should read the same in both channels, otherwise is faulty...

As Sovkiller suggest, do some measurements. Measure with and without the pot. Also try different volume levels on the pot.

As input use a sinus signal from a CD, software or signal generator.

Could you please post/attach some pics of your amp in it's case? I'm using the same one, and I'd like to see what I'll be looking at in the future.
