Hey all. I was going through tangent's cmoy guide and noticed it recommended the closed circuit 1/8" jacks from radioshack. I was wondering what's the difference between the open-circuit and the closed-circuit jacks. Also would it matter if I used the open-circuit jacks on the cmoy.

Thanks

Maybe it's just my interpretation but closed circuit means there is a switch inside the jack that is normally closed until you stick something (like a plug) into it and then it opens.
Open circuit is the oppisite... the switch in the jack is normally open and when you stick something in it the switch closes.
In this case you are switching two extra terminals on the jacks that you are not going to use... and as such the only real concern here is you don't want those extra leads on the open circuit jack to be "live" when you have something plugged into it.
(that way you don't have to worry about shorting the jack out and it eliminates a possible source of noise)
Make sense?
