I'm planning on making a 1 to 4 headphone splitter/amp but I don't quite have the time/money to make all four at once. I'm not quite the most knowledgeable when it comes to circuitry, but I am able to follow diagrams. The splitter that I am planning on building as for now will be very basic, just a simple one input to four output.

What I really want to know, is since I am going to make a splitter before I can make the powered amps for each headphone, is there a way to separate the power LED from the main circuit so that each of the splitter's jacks can have it's own power LED without having to build the full amp, and if so, is there any way that I can make it so the light till turn on based on if a headphone is currently plugged into the corresponding jack.

Thank you.

There are headphone jacks with extra circuits built in that would probably do what you want. You want to find one with a normally-open circuit that closes when you insert a jack. You'd run the power supply for that amp's channel through that circuit.

This means you have to build a distribution amp (I assume that's what you mean by "splitter") design that has a separate op-amp for each channel.
