Hi,
I need a closed phone .... I prefer lot of isolation. Can anyone comment on that, maybe some comparison? I have only had Mr. Speakers Alpha prime closed phones. Very good at isolation ... looking for something similar in terms of isolation, but cheaper (up to 300$)and possible to drive from phone.
Thanks for reading this.

(I listen to classical and jazz mainly)

cheers

Have you tried the NAD VISO HP50 or the Meze 99 Classics?

Focal Listen for $249. Even better isolation than the M50x (and better imaging than the 99 Classics, though they do sound nice). I use them in the office without anyone ever complaining (at most that I don't hear or understand them), and on the train. Active noise cancellation is still better, of course, especially when you're not listening to anything loud. So for sleeping on a plane, I still go for my Bose QC20

No, cant try them here, but are on my list. Nads can be had cheaply, but the pads look a bit small. Do you have experience withe either of these?

I Tried the NAD ViSO HP50 and I liked them a lot. The Meze 99 Classics were more comfortable but sounded very similar. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. The NAD is about $249 the Meze is $309 USD. Just for reference my Hat size is 7 3/4 I didn't have a problem with either headphone. The Meze just felt like it had slightly more room due to the shape of the ear cup but the NAD had a proper seal. They would be ideal for the genre of music that you listen to.
