I have to get a pair of closed heaphones because I will be listening to music in a very noisy environment, and I don't like in-ear phones. At first I was looking at the AKG 271's, but I've decided that I'm willing to spend a bit more than that. So there's my price range.

Please expound upon what you consider 'very noisy'. Happen to have any idea of what type of SPL levels you will be competing with? There aren't many full sized closed phones that I have heard that can isolate nearly as well as IEMs, I'm afraid.

I'm partial to the A900 myself, but they don't offer much in the way of isolation. That being the case, if the environment is very noisy, the A900 might not do the trick. As far as isolation goes, the HD280 (Sennheiser) was the by far the best. I often used them to drown out the fire alarm when my dorm would have fire drills. But the HD280 is well under your price range and isn't the most pleasing as far as sound quality is concerned.

You need to decide if isolation or sound quality is your priority and go from there.

To some extent yes, but fully, no.

K271S + velour pads + decent amp would be your best option.
Directly out of Ipod my pick would be ATH-ES7, they isolate better than D2000, more portable, and have more exciting sound signature.
HD25-1 with HD650 cable would be another, more expensive than ES7 option.
