Here are four headphones that I have found to be in my price range and have very good reviews here and else where. Which is the best and which is the best performance/price ratio.

I will be using these as my main headphones. I use my headphones for gaming on my xbox 360 (FPSs) and my PC (FPSs). I also listen to music, including rap, classic/rock, and classical.

Ultrasone HFI-450 - $88
Sony MDR-XB700 50mm - $78
Shure SRH 440 - $95
Audio-Technica ATH-ES7 - $90

Might go eBay, if its worth it. List if you can find these "new" and cheaper.

MS1s aren't exactly what you could call a closed set of headphones.

XB700's are superb for rap and a lot of rock, but they aren't really closed. They have vents behind the head band that lets sound in and out.

I think Im leaning away from the Sonys for the moment. For some reason I dont trust the wiring. My HD201s right now are broken or something at the plug, so I have to move it around just right before it comes out of both sides.

I wanna try and keep it sub $99. I would be tempted with the ATH 700s, but my friend got em, while they are really good, I want a bit more bass and I just dont want the same headphones since theres a lot of different flavors. ^_^

I have a conundrum

I like the Shure 440s because of the detachable cable and design. But after using my friends Audio-Technica ATH A700s, I want more bass than they have and according to the this graph, theres not much difference in the two.

I just really love that detachable cable feature ):. The Sony V6s look like what I want, but their kind of ugly and no DC(detachable cable) . I also like the looks of the AKG K81 DJs, but they dont look comfortable and no DC .

I am actually now looking at the Audio-Technica ATH-M50s on ebay and the seem to be sub $100. I just dont know if they have DC, which I guess I will sacrifice

, since sound wise, theyre probably what I want and they look comfortable. I just dont want them to end up like my HD201s (Almost a year old, but used them a lot) that Im using right now and have a cable problem where I have to move it around to get sound to come out both sides

I love the Sennheiser HD25Mark II DJ Monitoring headphones. They cost about $300US when they came out but nothing else in that price range delivers like these.

I have a set of 280X Pros. They're just okay. Better for acoustic and classical music but really doesn't have a tight enough nor deep enough bass to pull off alt.rock.
