Hi there! New to the forum.

I'm looking for a pair of closed back headphones for return to office.
Current setup is HD 6xx and I'll either be bringing an ifi zen DAC or Topping DX3 Pro to the office as well.
I really like the 6xx. I bought a pair of Sundaras out of curiosity and did not like them at all - I could never get used to the greater amount of treble relative to 6xx. So I guess that means I prefer a darker/warmer sound.

I was thinking a pair of Meze 99s (noirs given my budget). Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks :)

You can also make an offer of $60 or more with this one, which has more accessories, but still get the sheepskin leather ear pads and headband cover that is linked above to keep the headband pleather from flaking:

Wow! Thanks for the detailed reply. This is not a headphone I was familiar with, so have done some reading. Could be right up my alley, especially if I can find a cheap used one.
Have you had any experience with the dynamat mod?

I have not used dynamat, but many have used it on various types of gear and can provide their input, like @bagwell359 and such. The Sony MDR-1R/1A/1Am2 was sold for a number of years and was rather popular, leaving a number of used units in various regions. The variations among models included colors, but all still kept the same frame and ear cups. If you make those offers and the sellers accept, then you can possibly get 2 for the price of 1 with your budget. :)

HD 569! One of my favorite headphones and I use it every day, including at the office. Minimal sound leakage. Has that classic Sennheiser sound and sounds great to my ears.

I’ve really using my Rode NTH-100 in the office - they’re newer and there’s some hype around them but a solid pair of headphones for $150.

I have seen these before and considered posting about these, but I remembered how much the Sony MDR-1R sounded and felt like the HD6xx (which I used to own) that I had to talk about them, provided that the OP would be willing to buy used with all of the varying units Sony made that matched the same frame and ear cups. If you could make a review and rate them for others to see, then this model would get a decent boost in recognition here.
