Uh, I know this is completely off topic, but I was reading your sig and noticed a source upgrade was not in the works. If your laptop is your only source, I would recommend a M-audio sonica or the like as it will be miles better than your integrated audio. Just a thought.

P.S. Like they say: Garbage in, garbage out.

The EM7 have a bit more top-end detail, but don't have the warmth and "oomph" of the KSC-35. I prefer the latter.

P.S. If you're looking to buy a pair of EM7, I have a barely-used pair in original packaging for sale in the FS forum

i've been looking at this headphone for a while, been trying to find a review on it, look so sexy
i have 3 question:
people complain the em7 have weak bass? and can bass boost help?
how much is the em7 better than the d22 eggo? i'm considering these two
how much are you selling it for? i think want one

The EM-7 is easier to get on and off than the KSC-35. I need to go and listen to them side by side and do a comparison. I use them at work and there my listening is far from critical.

john, i'd love to know what'd be your findings. i find my ksc35's a bit too boomy and muddy for my taste. hope the em7 would be neutrally better with crystal clear mids and highs. just hoping. not to mention those babies looks good.

I have both. Well, I did, but gave the KSC-35 to my son, to replace a broken -50. The virtues and vices of both have been pretty well detailed before.

I find the -35 to have quite a bottom end, but it does end up being boomy and muddys the middle, and the top isn't what I would like (lower in level, but fairly clean). For $20, they have no competition, and one can live with the sound for a long time. But they're made like a piece of throw-away junk; it's virtually a few pieces of cheap brittle plastic.

The ATs have far more midrange definition and speed througout the audible range; they extend to the stratosphere, but they don't have the bass extension and weight of the Koss. They are more comfortable, easy to put on, and exquisitely built of steel and aluminum (except for the fabric-covered cable, which can fray). The soundstaging of the ATs is far superior.

The bass of the AT depends much on the fit to your ear. It's fast and present, but pales in amount and depth when compared to the Koss. In many ways, these are polar opposites in strengths and weaknesses; going from one to the other is a pretty stunning way to determine what's lacking in the other. Neither isolates you from the environment.

Overall, I prefer the AT's speed, clarity, quality, and comfort. But I am not a bass-head, and the music I listen to works well with the ATs. I can see how others would come to the opposite conclusion.

I find it interesting that a couple people have said the EM7 are easier to put on. I find the KSC-35 to be much easier to put on. In fact, when the EM7 first came out, the first comment everyone who bought them made was that they're tricky to put on

I don't seem to be able to find a KSC-35 here. I wanted to try it but a fellow head-fi member said that they weren't worth getting that excited about and looked really terrible. He's never pointedly mentioned the looks of a phone before so it must be really terrible?

It was not easy for us to figure it out, but eventually...

The pivoting clip is easy to use. For those who haven't seen them, the AT's earclip is a rubber crescent, hanging from a similarly shaped wire spring. The two parts connect to a horizontally-pivoting holder on the driver mount, with three detent-based settings for height. The pivot allows for horizontal movement away from the ear, so you simply hook the crescent hanger over your ear, and then move the driver mount towards your ear canal. A picture is worth a thousand words, but it's easier to use than to describe.

The fit can be altered by slightly and gently tightening or loosening the curve of the wire spring. The rubber piece is what touches your ear.
