clicks or gaps in dao cdr

I backup all of my cds onto cdr's so I can put them in a cd wallet without having to worry about ruining my investment.

I've been using using cdrdao, with paranoia-mode* set to 3, 4x burning speed, and DAO (I extract the TOC and the data). I'm still getting little clicks, or gaps, in cds that are brand new. I didnt notice them until I got a new pair of grado sr80's.

What can i do better to get a better copy

Use better quality CD-R's. Cheapo discs exhibit very high jitter which can result in the symptoms you describe. This site has some good reccomendations for media. Taiyo Yuden is suppost to be very good. If you're really paranoid then get some Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab ULTRADISC Gold CD-R's. Also, avoid using stick-on/glue-on labels.

ah. I just bought some new cdr's. They're those digital vinyl ones from verbatim, they look like a white label 45. They have scratch resistant coatings too. I'll have to see how they stand up in my lite-on.

Guess I'll be using my philips cdr's for data only (wow i just now realized they were philips ).
