On my right side, when I move my jaw left and right horizontally, I hear a soft, faint, but audiable *click* *click* I'll bet anything it's the fault of housing, and when I move it around and push/pull it for a little bit, it works fine, but I have to do that every time I pick it up after leaving it for awhile.

I recently sent it in for repairs for a rattling left driver; don't really want to send it in again just for this, but it bugs me.

Any ideas?

I think it's normal. I also have the same thing and I know of some other members who've experienced that clicking noise or however you want to call it. It doesn't really bother me though, because once you've put it on your head correctly it shouldn't appear unless you move your jaw in weird ways.

Well, that put some comfort into me. Still odd though how only the right side exhibits this problem of sorts...

It struck me as being weird as well in the beginning. That doesn't quite speak for the AKG headphone's build quality if their top-of-the line product has this kind of issue. But I guess the sound and the very affordable price make up for it.

Yeah, and if music is coming through, then you prob. won't hear the clicks anyway...

I believe it happens because the wire from the headphone cable is not properly soldered. Good excuse to get it recabled.

Mine does not click (yet), and I'm of the mind that serialized, hand-assembled, reference-quality headphones shouldn't have weird clicking that interferes with your listening. I'm certain AKG doesn't intend them to be that way, and obviously you don't, either.

I'd send U.S. support an email.

Even though everyone doesn't have this problem?

I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

I don't think you could begin to qualify and back your statement up, either.

If there was a flaw in the ENTIRE product line, as you're trying to suggest here, then at the very least we should see a heck of a lot more AKG 701 owners posting simillar complaints, if not all of them.

Alas...not to be.

Perhaps we should turn this into a poll thread and start getting a sample base of 701 owners and see what kind of numbers we come up with on this, one way or the other.

As is, I think we're a long ways off from being able to cite an outright product line flaw or build quality issue across the boards on the AKG 701's.

I see an isolated incident affecting a few people and nothing more than that.

Could this be a fit issue for some people. Maybe the shape of certain heads

bend the headphone in a way that the results in this clicking?

Very plausible and conceivable.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you personally in any way. The way you reply seems rather harsh to me, but that's ok. I only said that "it doesn't quite speak for the AKG headphone's build quality if their top-of-the line product has this kind of issue" with various users, and I guess this is true for me personally, since I'm one to experience that very issue that the OP mentioned.

I guess I should have added "in my opinion", even though it should be obvious that every post I make is in my opinion, while every post every other person makes is in their own.

I haven't even thought of that, and that may very well be the case, as I'm also one of the exceptional people that don't find these headphones really comfortable.
