I picked up a used Monarchy M24 with a pair of Amperex JAN 7308 gold-pins. It should arrive sometime next week. I am anticipating some good sound ahead, though it will be interesting to finally make the jump from NOS (D02, Monica 2, DAC-AH) to OS. I'm hoping the M24 will be the kind of OS DAC to ease the transition. There still should be a Pandora on my horizon, but waiting around without meaningful timeliness got tiring. Impatience is a virtue in this hobby, so all is well.
Anyhow, are the handful of M24 (or NM24) owners still happy with their purchases?
And what's the deal with Monarchy's pricing? Full retail for the M24 is $1490, the NM24 $1590, but both can be had for considerably less by buying from Monarchy on Audiogon. At first I thought I was getting some kind of insane deal due to the NM24's release depressing the M24's resale value, but apparently I just got a decent deal (with the included Amperex tubes making it extra decent, IMO).
