I see from one of the pictures that there was a pair of K701s with balanced XLR plugs. Any impressions compared to stock single ended?

I thought the balanced 701 vs single ended 701 sounded much the same. The 701, and the senn 600 for that matter, do not seem to scale like the senn 650, which I find to greatly improve when run balanced.
