For those who have been so-so on the quality of TOSLINK output from a Chromecast Audio puck...well the most recent firmware has fixed something!
Jitter? Fixed a bug? Now there is more clarity, staging.
..and I get fewer dropouts (internet starvation)

Hey dmance, that's interesting to hear - thanks for sharing!

I might consider picking up one now...

Do you have/use any other sources to compare to?
I'm using a mac mini (headless) right now - long story, but I want something simpler and also not to rely on amarra for tidal as much as I do right now. :)

Hi, how do you think a tablet paired with the CCA performs as a server compared to laptops etc? TIA!

Clarify how you want it to work.

The CCA is just a DAC with Wifi connectivity and webservices.
So a combination of a tablet (acting as a server) and a CCA wouldn't really work very well.
In my house I have two CCAs(Connected to active speakers) and a NAS with all my music on. (Together with Spotify & Google Music subscriptions)
I use any android unit with the app LocalCast installed and just stream it to the CCA from the NAS.

I'm using an iPad with Tidal in offline mode streaming to CCA. Sounds better than if I use my PC & CCA but storage is limited on the iPad so I'm looking for an alternative server. Google Music would be great I guess but not available in this country.
