Hello, new here. I auditioned the mojo at a dealer and was quite impressed by its detail as a mobile headphone amp. It came close to the higher end Dave they had at the store. Knowing that the hugo is the older model, how does it compare to the mojo?
Thanks a lot

Hugo and Mojo share much in common, both technically and audibly.

They both have fast transient attack, loads of detail and texture, with solid imaging stability.

They can both kick like a mule when necessary (solidity of impact with some recordings).

To my ears, Hugo sounds slightly airier and brighter than Mojo.

To my ears, Mojo sounds slightly smoother and darker.

But it's a close-run thing and my remarks about differences should be understood in that context. These are small differences.

If you are familiar with the sound of one of Rob's DACs, you are likely to recognise those characteristics when you hear another of his DACs. They definitely do share similarities of presentation.

Incidentally, Rob Watts has written a wealth of useful information, in various Chord-related threads on Head-Fi, and has been very generous with his technical explanations.

I highly recommend you read some of his quotes that I've collated in the main Mojo thread:

Thanks for your informative reply., I like smooth and dark - just like a good single malt.

I was quite impressed by the mojo. The sales man said that they don't order the hugo given the price difference and close sound of both. I had to hear it from other owners of both. So, thanks and I wont feel I'm getting a lower quality item with the mojo. Sometimes price isnt everything.
