I'm thinking of getting another power supply/charger for my hugo. It originally came with 11v 1.0a charger, just wondering does a 12v 0.5a work in this case as I can't seems to find a 11v 1.0a replacement? Need some advice here. Thanks.
I know that the Hugo has been out of production for 4 years, but are either of @Rob Watts or @Matt Bartlett , able to suggest a good power supply for this owner?

12V 0.5A with 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel connector will work. Just make sure it is a switched mode type of power supply rather than a linear. You can use higher current so 1A, 2A, 5A are all ok. It is the voltage that is important so you must make sure the voltage cannot go higher than 12V.

Because in general switch mode power supplies are better and controlling (regulating) the output voltage under different loads compared to linear power supplies.
This is important for products like Hugo where the amount of load (current) varies depending on the charge status of the batteries. When we tested some linear power supplies
we found that during trickle charge the load was not enough to keep the voltage at 12V and it increased a level that could cause damage.
If you're using third party ones, make sure to verify the voltage with a multi-meter before plugging into Hugo. Some are rated at 12V but might be way-off like 14v, which would trip the Hugo protection circuits. Also make sure it's center positive.
Thanks for the advice, would test for the voltage with a multi-meter once I receive my replacement charger. If the voltage is higher, I would get one from the website that you have given.
Hi All
I'm a happy owner of Chord Hugo 1 but this DAC is not really portable so I'm looking for a music player which has similar sound signature and sound quality as Hugo 1 but more portable. Please make your suggestions.
The only dap I have tried is ak 380, ak with oversampling and what not is warm or smooth. Very appealing but not chord analogue transparency so, no help from me.

Questyle QP1R is closest I've heard with a clear upfront sound. iBasso DX200 Ti (limited edition) is better still, but only 66 made. Some being offered now DX220 being released.
