I would spend 300 bucks on the piece of software that takes about an hour to learn and has MANY more features than mscaler. Not only that, the guy who writes hqplayer answers your questions directly on the roon forums.

But its your money, do what you will. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Not going to change the way that I do things.
Hqplayer is very nice software, but it annoyed me the way I have to work with it. If roon and hqplayer ever makes a bond or something it would be great. Untill then….

I chose tt2+mscaler, because when I come home I want to flip a switch, streamer on, amplifier on, dac on, and listen.

Cool beans. It sounds like you have a nice setup. You can stream directly from roon through hqplayer then strait to your endpoint/dac. You just have to set hqplayer as a zone in roon and then select it. Pretty easy.

I know how that works, but it is still not the way I like it.

Would be great if every highend streamer would support NAA streaming. But the only one I know is zen stream, and a hifi rose easily tops that (which is expected).

Integration of hqplayer into roon, so roon would stream, instead of their own upsample, would be a very great combo though

Take a look at the sotm sms 200 ultra neo. It's a great streamer. About 1300 bucks, another 500 for their lps. Look on YouTube for a review by Hans Beekhuyzen. He gives honest reviews. It supports roon and hqplayer.
