Sure, I'm down to come and bring some gear as well as hang out with head-fiers. Since you started the thread, I think it would be great for you to see if you are down to run this thing. All you need to do is pick a time and place, find a venue, determine if you want manufacturers to help out in some way, and post the info here. Even though you are new, I think that would be a great way for you to get initiated into head-fi! I know I am way too busy to plan something on my time, I am sure Billy is pretty busy as well. So one of you new chicago guys are going to have to take over that's for sure!

I couldn't make the last Chicago one. But I am up for a new one in the downtown area- or at least easy to get to by public transportation.

Hey, works for me, Dupage county represent! I would say troymadison if you are up to it and are okay organising and hosting the thing, then you should pick a place and location that is convenient and okay for you. If someone does not want to attend because it is too far, or because the location does not meet their standards, well it is their loss. The meet I threw in Schaumburg at my apartment complex was in the clubhouse which was big enough for 40 people. About 20-25 came, with one person coming all the way from Michigan and lots of city folks. If you build it, they will come, and if not, a minimeet would be fine with me. Sometimes a mini meet is cool too because you can actually hear the gear you are listening to.

If there is someone out there that wants to host and find a place downtown, then I would say you should get started on hosting it. Me, I know I am way to busy to organize something right now, so I will go wherever someone decides to host a meet.

I may be willing to use my place to host it, if you don't have somewhere to go.
I live in the south loop on 9th and Wabash.

Anyone could easily walk or take the subway and/or metra here with no problem.
But the max would be around 20 people- if I move some furniture around.

But I am good with Dupage as well, because my parents live over there in Carol Stream- so I could use their car.

EDIT:
I just remembered my building has a party room we could use and we could easily get more than 20 people in it.

excellent, seems like dupage area could work out for a lot of us. My Zana Deux should be coming in soon enough, which is good news for all

I would still be open to have it in the city too - acidtripwow, since you seem so intent on keeping it in a nice place downtown or in the city, any possible way you could host and find a venue for us to be at? At this point in the Chicago scene, we simply need people to step up, take some initiative, and if they want to have a meet in a certain building or area, well by all means the power is yours.

That sounds great! If you don't mind, please try to talk to whoever is in charge and see what you need to do to reserve that room. I am sure there is a fee, and of course you probably need to know how far in advance to book it. If there is a fee or deposit, feel free to ask us here if we would be willing to chip in to help offset the costs.

I'm sure it isn't more than a $20 deposit if I remember correctly.

It isn't a problem to book it. If enough people are interested then I can go down to the office and get some questions answered.

Also the Red, Orange and Green line all have stops at Roosevelt, which is a 2 min walk to my place. And Union Station is about a 25-30 min walk to 9th & Wabash.

This of course is only one possibility, so please discuses any other places to have the meet in the Chicago/Dupage area.
