Hey Everyone.  Its time for another Chicago HP meet. The date is February 6th from 10-4.  Yes, that is in a few weeks.

NEW - There will be a $10 participation fee per person.  To make a long story short, the funds we use to run these events is unavailable.  SO, we need to start building up a budget again.  If someone chooses to donate a little more to the cause, it is more then welcome.

Because we have no money, we can not rent a hotel meeting room like we usually do.  so this event will take place at a Community Center in Western Springs.

I have included the details below, please take a minute to read ALL of it.  Please post in this thread and let me know if you are coming, and what gear you will be bringing along.  I will do my best to update the thread so we know who and what will be present.  Or, someone else can do it.

I have not set up any kind of snacks or drinks.  If someone is willing to bring or pick something up, we can make space for it.  A bit of a pot luck if you will.  we don't need much of course.  maybe some water, pop, chips, whatever.  You don't have to bring anything.

Who: Midwest Head-Fi'ers
What: Headphone Meet!
When: Saturday February 6th 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Where: 4211 Grand Ave, Western Springs, IL

HOW TO FIND THE ROOM (yes, I will make signs along your path)
1.  Park in the free parking lot, and enter doors that are right off the lot
2.  get in the elevator and take it to the 2nd floor
3.  exit elevator, walk up the ramp to your left, and go through the door directly in front of you.
4.  You will now be in a hallway.  walk straight, and take the 2nd hallway on your right.  there will be a sign that says "SENIOR CENTER"  Go there.
5.  If you hit the girls bathroom, you've gone too far.  turn around.
6.  Welcome.

Other:
-Please bring extension cords and power strips if you have them.  There are outlets here, but they are awkwardly placed.
-YES, the meet is easily accessible by train.  The Metra drops you off right in downtown Western Springs.  The meet location is only a few suburban blocks away.  Very easy walk, or you can arrange to be picked up by one of us.  Not me.

IMPORTANT!!
Following the event, if anyone is interested, there is a great pub 2.5 miles away in LaGrange.  excellent beer and food selections.  I plan on going there for a burger and a beer, and I hate to drink alone, so please join me.  Yes, its all ages as well.  This can often be the best part of a meet!

I'm still a maybe. Hopefully the weather is better by then. I'm only ~50 minutes away. As of this moment I have no other plans that conflict with the date.

If I make it, I'll bring my:
  1. Violectric V850 [no remote]
  2. Violectric V181
  3. USB 2.0 Isolator
  4. 1 pair of Violectric XLR Interconnects
  5. 2x Audioquest NRG-X3 Power Cables
  6. Audioquest USB A↔B – Carbon
  7. MAYBE: Fostex TH900 (w/ XLR to 1/4" adapter)
  8. MAYBE: beyerdynamic DT990 (if it hasn't sold)
  9. MAYBE: OEM cables for corresponding gear where applicable
  10. MAYBE: PS Audio Dectet Power Center (Power Conditioner)

I won't have a source. I'm a bit hesitant to bring the TH900 as the box is a bit of a pita, the hardwired cable doesn't like its box and they're not the most durable pair of headphones. Lol. I wouldn't want someone to scratch them. :frowning2: Consider me paranoid with excess anxiety and OCD to run the endless scenarios in my head. The cables and dac/amp are durable and I have no worries about someone damaging them. The power conditioner is kinda heavy and the stock cable is pretty short (3 feet I think).

I should be there. I'll bring...

Schiit Modi 2
Schiit Magni 2
ZMF Master Model V1
Fostex T50rp mkii (if I get them back together)
Mee Audio M6 Pro

I can also bring a measurement kit if anyone would be interested in seeing the FR of their headphones. Not going to bother calibrating it on my laptop if no one is interested though.

I'm going to do everything in my power to get there this time. As long as classes are going well and I can get away from school for the weekend, I'll be there. I'm sad I've missed the past few, so I'm excited to be back for one.

If I can make it, I'll probably bring my LCD 2.2f, Mad Dogs, RHA MA750, iPod Video/Fiio E12, and maybe my Modi 2U and Aune T1. If anyone hesitates to bring any matching equipment, don't. I can't guarantee that I'll be there or that I'll be able to bring all of this.

If you are able to make it, I might ask you to bring some Black Dog.  Would definitely pay you a delivery fee.

I'd be willing to help you out, only problem is that if I can make it, I'd be leaving school the night before. Day old black dog is still pretty good though. PM me if you'd like.
