I just bought my HD555s from the first link last week, and I received them promptly with no problems. They are indeed the 50 ohm version, according to the packaging. I have been enjoying them since

Hmm, here's a very noobish question of me I guess: If there's a 50 ohm version compared to the ...1** ohm version, why make the higher ohm version at all ? What would be the advantage of having one which is harder to drive ? I'm guessing that if there are any advantages in the higher ohm version, it has nothing to do with the Ohms at all.

I thought I read that the 150ohm version was the "old" version, which would indicate old stock. Maybe someone could correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Actually, according to the box I have in front of me, they're 120 ohms. I am going to purchase the 555's and Grado sR 60's from Headroom, but if there's a 50 ohm version, which is obviously easier to drive, that would probably be the sensible pair to get.

Yep, my mistake, they are either 50 or 120-ohm.

I got a pair (HD555) for my dad and he and I like them very much... for the price I honestly dont think much beats them if you are looking for a nice laid back detailed sound.

They sound fine without an amp but even better with the M3 I also got my dad
