A few months ago, I stumbled upon a link to an online store that was selling an EXTREMELY cheap set of crap headphones. They were awful-looking, kinda like airline headphones, and they cost only a couple bucks... about as much as a tin of mints. We're talking $1.50-$2 here. Anyway, I was trying to find this store again. At first I thought it was Audio Cubes, but I was mistaken. And no, it's not HeadRoom.

Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Cheapest headphones that are actually worth listening to were those free MX300 that Senn offered a while ago.

Any phone that you buy at the $.99 store is not worth listening to.

Don't forget the Philips HP 170's for $9.99 at Rite Aid right now (think it's still going on).

The earbuds that came with my MZ-S1 are crap. The worst headphones I own are so horrible and are a brand called "performance". I used them for my gameboy for a while and they sounded fine mainly due to that fact that gameboys require almost nothing of quality to make them sound good. However, when I was looking through my crap headphone collection (yes, there are more), I stumbled upon these and hooked them up to my computer. OMG...they're so bad that the music is barely audible. The highs are horrible, the bass through low mids doesn't even exist, and the mids are so muffled you can't hear what the singers are saying. Simply said, these are the worst earbuds you've ever heard. Actually, my friend bought a cheapy pair of labtec "Curve 495" clip-ons for 5 bucks and they actually sound like something, it's not like the range is gone, although the mids and bass are very held back in comparison to my KSC-50's. Another set of buds my friend owned (same friend) that he got for free were just barely a cut above my "performance" buds.

I couldn't find any for $9.99 there locally, but I only checked five of them. Different areas may have different sales, too.

I went ahead and picked up a pair for $19.99, because I'm easily entertained.

I bought some $1 earbuds from a Dollar Tree store (everything in store is $1) with the intention of reviewing them here, but never got around to it.

I'm at a friends house right now, later this evening I'll post the specs as listed on the package. Several things I noticed was that they were far less sensitive than even my HD-600's, that one channel was significantly different sounding than the other side (less bass, if it were possible), and that the sound quality could best be discribed as "almost fit for AM radio."

There is a 98 cent store around here, that's 98 not 99 and they sell headphones. I have been to many different dollar stores and seen many makes of headphones but they are all just as bad as those stock headphones which cost about the same to make.
