I have a ASUS Xonar DX ( i forgot the exact model ) but it uses PCI-E (the slot for GPU?) for its main card so I need to use a motherboard with SLI or Crossfire compatible in order to use it.

Any cheap soundcard that can be used for a PCI slot and it has coax out

I want to use the soundcard as a transport to my external dac so i think a cheap PCI soundcard would do.

Thanks!

Err what socket CPU u on? Basic/entry level boards these days have a PCIe slot - in fact one of my rigs @ home is on a 790GX mATX from 2008-2009 and it has one

GPUs use the PCIex 16 slot

im using an LGA775 board. mine have pci-e slot but im using it for my gpu (gtx260)? and the gtx 260 is blocking the small pci-e for the extension card with my xonar that has the coax because the gtx 260 is a dual slot so it eats the other pci-e slot.

I picked up an maudio 2496 for £30 recently which has digital coax. It's quite inflexible though (you need to specify the sampling rate yourself) and the analogue circuits are showing their age. I'm getting rid of it in favour of the DX I had already.
