Hi
I have to replace my broken sony mdr-e818.
I was looking to spend about 10-15 €, so I was considering the sennheiser mx series up to mx360 and the akg up to the k313, since I can find them in a store next to my home; I had the intention to buy the akg k312, since I read in this forum they perform better than the mx360 and cost less, but I couldn't find them (I'd prefer not to buy online).

I can't find online any reliable review of these akg earbuds, so I'd like to know if anybody here has tried them and how do they compare to the sennheiser's; also, is there any significant difference between the 3 sennheiser models?
I listen almost exclusively to rock and metal.

Thanks

Hi Olmec! Welcome to Head-Fi!

I'm not sure if you're referencing my humble review, but the reason I said I preferred the K312 was because, at the time, the MX360s were selling here in the US for $25, which I feel is too expensive. (The AKGs were still available several months ago as well.)
If you can find the Sennheisers for 10-15 Euros, I say go for it. As a_tuminwa says the bass is pretty good, and although they aren't the most detailed buds, they certainly sound nice and smooth and are well balanced.

@a_tuminwa: Congrats on 500 posts!

Thank you for your replies

Yes, I'm looking for earbuds, not IEMs

@kjk1281: yes, it was indeed your review; anyway the k312 where listed for a couple of euros less than the mx360 on the store's website, but I couldn't find them in the physical store

I found the mx360 for 15€, and the 160-260 both around 10;
the akg k313 are sold for 17€, so if they sound better than the mx360 I could consider them too

I don't understand artofj's reply, since it's identical to a_tumiwa's.

Anyway, isn't there anybody who has tried the akg's, or who could tell me the differences between the mx360 and the cheaper models?
In this case, I think I'll go for the 360...

Thanks again

for akg, i only have k12p, it`s bass-shy, but has pretty good speed and i love the detail too, the price i bought is around $12, already discontinued long time ago. i think if you love detail, airy, lean/bright sound signature, go for akg, if you love bass and warm sound signature, choose mx360

For earbuds, the best bang for the buck would be PK3 at $39.

What about the Sony E829V? They are great cheapies, and have a good in-line volume control that is accurate not heavy on the line. I have 2 or 3 around the house.

I can't find this model on the italian sony online store or in the websites of the stores next to my home; I could look for them in the physical stores, however.

Do you think they sound better than the sennheiser mx360?

Save up for the PK3 (skip a few meals if you must). The $10-$15 you need to save up for these will amount in an actual $60-$70 jump in sound quality compared to other low budget models. I'm listening to them right now and they pack a serious punch.

Senn MX-360 is not that great -- the MX-660 or 760 are worth their price, however.

Here's your choice: in the price range you mentioned (10-15 Euro), it probably doesn't matter what you get -- none of them are going to sound that great.

But, if you want good sounding earphones, you'll need to save to money and get up into the 50 Euro range. See what's available to you in that range, and search for reveiws on some here.
