I guess our portable rigs could be significantly down-sized. Who needs an amp when a $15 attenuator does the same thing?

Don't believe everything you've read on the Internet, including posts on this board. That's why you should get some first hand experience and make you own judgment, especially in this hobby.

I think the OP was being sarcastic.

Edit: He's definitely being sarcastic. If you read through the thread, the OP posts his take.

Everyones opinions are valid within their own boundaries and needs, but as with all advice given by anyone that isnt backed up in fact and is their opinion according to the flavors they like and expectancies they have and value percieved for their money, always try everything for yourself, and also your mileage may vary.
Opinions often go by feeling and not 100% by fact and everyone has a right to their opinion.
I have 8 portable amps, and theyre slightly different flavors, but i can see why people would like one over another, and even though i do have my favorites, none are the best in every situation, so i can see why someone may have differing opinions on amps.

In some cases, maybe going ampless does sound better, and on that particular setup an amp would be a waste of money and extra bulk for nothing. It all depends, but i love my amps and i love collecting them and laying them all out on my table and switching between them, and ill probably buy alot more of them.
