Hi all,
I have a Chaintech AV-710 sound card in my computer...and have for a few years. I used to have my sound coming through the optical output into a hi-fi stereo receiver....everything was perfect from movies to music. I have since moved and have my computer separated from my stereo

. Now I have recently connected my computer to my TV (audio and video) through a long S-Video/RCA cable (RCA converted to 3.5mm headphone jack into the computer). There is a very annoying feedback that comes through the TV speakers (not through the computer speakers oddly). Also, the feedback comes through the TV when the computer is off (quieter though). I tested the cable with my ipod and there was no feedback. I tried another cable and the feedback is still there. I moved the card to a new PCI slot and also updated the drivers. Any more ideas? Is this some type of grounding issue? If you need more info, just let me know because I would love to fix this pesky buzzing.
Thanks,
Mike

Try removing the ground connection from one of them. If disconnecting the ground from the computer there is no noise, then you got a ground loop. All grounds from connected equipment sould be connected to a common point; if all of them have grounds to the outlet AND the instrument grounds are connected between them through the audio interconnection cables, there is current flowing causing electrical noise.
