Has anyone here compared SQ with it's internal dsd upsampling vs hq player?

As far as I know, it's like 1-bit DAC, you can't listen PCM data with DSDAC (can't listen PCM to compare with the DSD conversion).
This DAC will always convert the PCM file to DSD all the time.

Yes, I guess I should have been more specific. I use Hq Player and upsample everything to DSD512 with some pretty spectacular filters and modulators.
Does anyone have any experience comparing HQ Player + a dac like the Holo May versus the Cen. Grand dsdac own upsampling in terms of sound quality?

That's interesting question. I had tried the DSDAC Superclock and indeed they sound sublime for the price (that made me even more curious about DSDAC Deluxe). Very close to Rockna Wavelight (both win some and lose some), but with almost half the price.

Which one did you end up going with?
I find myself going down the DAC rabbit hole. Researching everything I can in the $5-10k price range. Although very satisfied with the Cayin CS100DAC I have it for sale because curiosity has got the best of me.
The Cen. Grand Dsdac, Holo May and Rockna Wavedream/Wavelight, Molo Molo, Denafrips 12 Plus, T+A 200, etc. The list goes on forever

I still use Chord TT2 for my main set up. I will wait for my chance to home demo DSDAC Deluxe someday (I think next month). Yeah Cayin CS100DAC is a pretty solid product, but I prefer DSDAC Superclock a little bit more though.
Today I was at the audio exhibition and listened to Cen.Grand dsdac 1.0 Standard + Cen.Grand 9i-906.
In short, this is absolute madness. The sound of this system is truly amazing. Last year I heard the Cen.Grand stack and didn't like it. I assumed that the system was not warmed up and this turned out to be true.
This year, the dealer warmed up the system for a long time before the show and presented a ready-to-use stack. To say that I am shocked... is an understatement.
Next to it was a system with Denafrips Terminator Plus 12th + Denafrips ARTEMIS and it sounded much simpler with the same headphones.
In the next room I was listening to Holo Stack + Susvara. It sounded good, but it wasn't that surprising.
Cen.Grand Stack is a powerful, punchy sound. This system has the most meat on the bone of any system I've listened to to date. Good stage, space, excellent recursion and after-sound. Tube timbres are captured in the sound.
In short, I'll go to bed and sob into my pillow...this is a potential hole in my bank account of 7-10k $.
P.s.
I had two approaches to listening to the Cen.Grand Stack. The total listening time was almost an hour. And this is at an exhibition where there are a huge number of visitors who want to get acquainted with the sound of the system. I thought the customers waiting in line behind me would eat me without a knife and fork.
If you were in line behind me, I apologize for taking up the system for so long. Damn it, she sounded great.
P.p.s.
By the way, today I got to the exhibition by showing a fair amount of cunning. I told my wife that I would go to the fashion show of women's mini bikinis 2024 and the show of women's socks (this is the show where girls walk naked, only in socks). She said, "Okay, no questions." If I told her that I would go to an audio exhibition, she would throw a scandal. She knows that I return from such events with a negative balance on my bank card.
The bank account has not yet been damaged, but apparently this is a temporary phenomenon... Cen.Grand will get the better of me.

Srajan Ebaen in Darko and sixMoon found that the Ferrum Wandla was on pair with the CenGrand de Luxe:
I quote: "In fact, Wandla was surprisingly comparable to my Cen.Grand DSDAC 1.0 Deluxe"
...and that for 3 times less money, and a european build !
Meanwhile I'm still hesitating between the CenGrand standard, the Gustard R26 and the Ferrum Wandla
3 different technologies for 3 different sounds ???

Love your comparison, they are 100% in line with my thoughts as well. The cen.grand stuff just has insane dynamics (both micro and macro-dynamics).Today I was at the audio exhibition and listened to Cen.Grand dsdac 1.0 Standard + Cen.Grand 9i-906.

Depends on what sound preference your after, I would highly recommend going either cen.grand or Gustard. Delta-sigma gear IMO cannot match what R2R or DSDACs are capable of in terms of sound space. I'm using the R26 ATM but if cen.grand ever comes out with a DSDAC that stacks with the Little Silver Fox (LSF), that will be it for me!Srajan Ebaen in Darko and sixMoon found that the Ferrum Wandla was on pair with the CenGrand de Luxe:

Looking forward to this comparison!let’s give another music server a try costing a fraction of the Taiko and is said to play in the same ballpark: the Audiophool Music Server 2.1 which comes in for demo next week.
Edit: the Ideon Audio Absolute stream will be put in the mix too
As I mentioned on AS maybe you can try also an XACT S1 which seems to be better than the MU1.

I swapped out the tubes and it has made a big difference. The stock tubes were pretty weak IMO.

I’ve just gone through the Whatsbestforum thread, indeed an intriguing product! It is a shame no dealer is around in Europe/The Netherlands so a (in house) demo is not possible… I will report back about the Audiophool/ Ideon servers beginning of november.Looking forward to this comparison!

it will be possible to listen to S1 at next years HE Munich in one of the atrium rooms. I am curious.
