I just switched from PC to Mac, and I'm looking for something to take the place of CDex for my Mac (it doesn't exist for Mac, correct?). Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

Yes, Max have the capability to apply album art to ripped files.
I personally use iTunes for this task though

I'm slow guys. What are the advantages of using Max vs. itunes? I appreciate any time you may take to better educate me.

Thanks!

I use Max as well. Not so much for the ripping (I did that originally in EAC)
But the thing I love about Max is the transcoder. You can go from pretty much any format and output to multiple other formats in the one pass.

Max has a lot more options as to how the ripped files are output, the directory layout and such, something that just isn't configurable in iTunes. If you know anything about Applescripting you can have a script do some post processing.

The other app I use is Media Rage, which is lots of small apps all in one.

I use a combination of all three (iTunes/Max/MediaRage) to a greater or lesser extent.

Also check out Tag by the dev of Max. Fairly easy tagging of FLAC files. And to some extent, Cog to play FLAC.

Max utilizes a multi-processor/multi-core machine very well.
