Can anyone compare these two sets of cans? I heard some midrange Senns once (perhaps 570/590s) and I was pretty blown away, but at the time my comparison was Senn 280s or AKG 271s (can't remember).

CD3K has barely any isolation, but I use them in my office fine. Would the 595s be any different?

Damn, the list of cans I want to try is getting longer... 595s, A900s, high end grados... the list goes on.

LOL, I just got some CD3ks for isolation from closed cans, if you are looking to isolation the 595s are definately not what you are looking for, my roomate asked to turn down my headphones plenty of times.

The change from black gate sonica/pimeta to sonica optical out/aos dac/ppa w black gate and diamond buffer was dissapointing. The noise floor lowered a bit and the bass got slightly deeper, but for the cost the upgrade was definitely not worthwhile IMHO. I can't hear a lot of difference between the sonica and aos dac either, but i've not spent much time doing comparisons yet.

If you're going to get a dac, try it with your system before you invest.

That is weird, I first went from Pimeta to PPA with one buffer per channel and the Jump was huge, the sound became crisp and clear and the bass was deep and punchy, and by going from one Intersil buffer to Triad Module it was just a whole new level of smoothness.

MisterX suggested that I try another optical source, but I don't have one easily available. I've done some A-Bing, and I really can't hear much of a difference between them. It could the the story of my life, that I get the dud. For the $675 I paid I might as well have not bothered.

Maybe I need to send them back to MisterX to be checked, along with my Sonica perhaps. But then i'd be musicless for a couple of weeks!

How does the bass on the 595 compare to the CD3000?

I think the main part of the CD3K is people say they barely isolate. But they do nevertheless provide some isolation. I've never owned the 595 but I can't imagine it being better.

You could also get a coax to optical converter, right?
