I have an Onix xcd-99 which is basically a Music Hall CD25.

I would like to change out the opa2604 buffer opamps with something a little more musical. I am considering using dual opa827's on Browndog apapters but I also thought that the new opa1612 would be a good option. This is my first try at something like this. I know the dual opa827's will work in place of the opa 2604 but I do not know if the opa1612 will work.

Can anyone tell me if this will work and if there are any downsides?

I am trying to extend the life of this cd player and improve the sound. Am I on the right track?

I appreciate any and all help.

I hope this is the right forum for this. I am a newbie so if it needs to be somewhere else please let me know.

We don't know the schematic so it's not 100% safe to try OPA1612. The original op-amp has got JFET inputs to minimize the input currents, so better take the OPA827. It is musical. OPA1612 might draw too much current from the DAC output and it can affect the sound or cause offset.
