Cayin YB04 In-Ear Monitor

Generally speaking, cables don't have a "significant" effect on the sound. They tend to tweak the signature in subtle ways only. The same is true in this case.

If you're looking for a warmer sound without spending too much, check out the Effect Audio Ares II +. The "+" variants have a thicker gauge, which has a direct effect on bass.

Thanks for that, poor use of the word significant by me there. I guess I was using it in hope more than anything!

Cayin have obviously aced the signature they were going for and technically they’re excellent. For my personal taste, I’d just love to eek out a little more bass.

It’s a shame they don’t ship with a balanced cable given Cayin are pushing the synergy these have with the N6ii.

A little expensive, maybe. But I really love the increased bass this cable brings, without losing a bit of clarity. Also, it's great to finally hear the YB04 in balanced.

N6ii>EA Thor II +>YB04

Cable aside, do they respond well to the N6ii’s balanced out (same setup as me)?

I'll have to run some tests. Luckily, I have the adapters to make switching from balanced to single-ended easy enough.

Looking sharp!!!

Hey Alex, when is the full review expected? How does it pair to N6ii (if tried). And how does it compare to liked of FH7 and Andromeda (keeping the price aside)?
TIA

Look what came into the mail today as part of the Cayin N6ii / T01 / YB04 Tour :)
The YB-04 is plugged on my Dunu Hulk cable with the 4.4 plugged into my N6ii.

I am using my own N6ii to begin with then I'll mount the T-01 on the tour N6ii which will make A/B with A-01 a lot easier :)

Stay tuned for impressions but I like what I am hearing there...

We just released the 4.4mm balanced headphone cable CS-4.4B, suggested retail price is US$149.

Our original plan was to issue an upgrade cable with 8 strands of Unidirectional Crystalized OFC for 4.4mm balanced option. We tested several prototypes and decided to stick with the original headphone cables of YB04, the improvement is not as significant as we expected but we need to deal with higher price and practical issues comes with heavier and thicker cables.

We don't have any plan to issue a YB04 with 4.4mm cable instead of 3.5mm cable right now. This will very much depends on the feedback from market and sales channel.

Looking good! I really like the stock cable. All it needed was a balanced termination.
