Cayin Soul 170HA: A Beastly TOTL Vacuum Tube Headphone/Speaker Amplifier wth KT170

I am glad you like the Soul 170HA, I hope the amplifier will pair well with all your headphones, I haven't try any ZMF headphone with 170HA so far, but our team in Zhuhai likes it very much.

You can use 5AR4 as a direct replacement of GZ34s in 170HA. I believe the availability of 5AR4 and GZ34s should be slightly better than the 22DE4 we used previously.

We adjusted the working current of the KT170 output tube by a few mW to achieve a different tonality. We have included a brief explanation in the Interview with Engineering video, I time-stamped the Dual Tonality feature below if you want to hear the answer from the Engineer directly.

Do you think it'd be possible to get a full list of supported rectifiers for the 170HA? I had a chat with them in Munich about it and they listed a few but I don't remember them anymore. Wondering if 274B, 5U4G etc. are possible options as well.

Will the Kt170ha come with a tube compatibility list @Andykong? Like say how much gain the 6sn7 slots can handle? Like say if it can handle higher gain tubes like 7062s vs needing the lower gain equivelents of 7062s of E181CCs. That kind of thing.

I've got one sitting about 6 feet from me right now. Unfortunately, it's not mine and it's too big for me to run away with it at any decent speed. Lovely amp, though.

In Spain price is 5700€

Best regards
Price is listed at 9500€, not 5700, but indeed there's a 40% summer discount being offered for the time being.

@Andykong any idea if the 170HA can drive LS50 Metas? If so, might just bite the bullet... :beerchug:
Reason I ask is because if it can't, why don't I just buy the Soul 170i which is cheaper and has been out for a while (assuming it can run cans).

Forgot to mention, I placed my deposit on the CFA3. There isn't any news about the CFA3-T though. Plus seems it is a long way away.

This won’t be sufficient for your KEFs, maybe for near field but definitely not enough to fill any medium sized room. Output is 18w in ultra linear and 10w in triode which is nowhere sufficient for insensitive KEFs.

Unfortunately you can’t use them as pre either to have a power amp down the chain.
You got to prioritise if you are looking to get one amp to do both, I am sure that 170i won’t be anywhere close for headphones and vice versa. Just because there is a headphone out doesn’t mean you will be able to run the HPs to the same technical performance.

Wow, so Cayin has "invaded" your system step by step :beerchug:

The Single-ended Soul 170HA in triode mode and HA-300MK2 (SETA) are similar from a circuitry perspective, the major differences are the principle of indirectly heated vacuum tube (KT170) vs directly heated vacuum tube (300B). In addition, the Soul 170HA can also operate in ultralinear mode, offering a very different sound signature.

As usual, I don't comment on subjective aspects of the products I represent. I'll leave sound impression and comparison to users and reviewers.
Thank you Andy!! You're great as always :)

Is that a Cayin promotion in Europe or something the local dealer is doing?

At 40% off the price on this almost becomes reasonable.
