Is everything ok? I did post recently asking about using a USB C cable as I've just upgraded my laptop to a new Dell XPS 17 which has 4 x Thunderbolt 3 ports. Here is what seems to be a good quality Thunderbolt 3 cable

Never try thunderbolt with our DAP, but this should work.

Yes , but last month Cayin put out a third N8 upgrade. Think limited to 100 or so units.

Not really an upgrade, the N8SSB (Stainless Steel Black) is a special finishing custom ordered by our (new) HK dealer, and this is an one-time order, so naturally become limited edition.

Yes, unless we need to update the audio related algorithm, otherwise we'll keep the sound signature of the product.

Cayin has announced a new USB Audio driver V4.86.0. This should resolve the recent Win10 incompatible problem. If you are using the previous version USB Audio Driver without any problem, you don't have to upgrade the USB Audio Driver, they are functionally identical.

When I tried to transfer an album recently my N8 BB wouldn't become visible to my laptop, I'm hoping this new Audio Driver will resolve this problem, will find out very soon.

I took delivery of a Hugo 2 the other day, bought it out of curiosity to compare with N8 a

I feel that the Hugo 2 is a bit leaner than the N8 which might explain why we both prefer the N8? Having said that I'm listening to the new Alanis Morisette album 'Such Pretty Forks in the Road' as I type this via Spotify Free (to decide whether I wish to buy the album) and the Hugo 2 + Utopia + OIDIO cable combo sounds fantastic

My N8 BB & Dell XPS 17 Windows laptop don't want to play together anymore. I get the greeting message on the N8 when I connect but the N8 then turns off and charges but neither the internal storage or the micro SD card will appear as drives. I've tried another braided cable and 3 USB C to USB A adapters. Cannot download new music............

Problem solved by connecting my Questyle QP2R to my laptop which immediately saw it, I then disconnected the QP2R & then connected my N8 BB. Then my laptop saw the N8 which it had previously refused to 'see'. Anyone got an explanation as to why connecting another brand of DAP enabled my laptop to once again 'see' my N8?

@Andykong , is it possible to change artist to album artist?

I've got quite a few albums that have songs which are a collaboration of the main artist and another.

When you search using artist, it makes a fair mess of the listing and stops you playing the full album unless you go back to album search.

Anyone else think the same...?

I see you mentioned the Utopia. How does it sound with the N8 and can you please compare it to some IEM’s or other HP’s if you have them. I have been thinking about getting a headphone. Tks. I also have the Hugo 2 as well. Tks.

What we all like about a particular brand/model of headphone is often a contentious business lol. I love the sound of the Utopias having owned the AKG K812's previously, I think the slightly warmer style of the N8 matches perfectly with the detailed Utopias and they have plenty enough bass (for me). I use the N8 in Balanced and got OIDIO Cables to make me a balanced Mongrel series cable having previously used Moon Audio Black Dragon.
You have asked me to compare the Utopias with other IEM's or headphones but first I've never used IEM's and I don't think comparing the £1,400 AKG K812 to the £3,500 Utopia will help you much. Perhaps I can say I'm very happy to have stretched to the Utopias and have no plans whatsoever to dem any alternative but when N8 Mark 2 eventually comes out, I'd upgrade the DAP if the Mark 2 offered a decent upgrade. I'm also very happy with the Hugo 2 + Utopia combo but as I use my N8 much more than my Hugo 2 I decided against upgrading my Hugo 2 to a TT2. I'm sure it's a great SQ upgrade but it would be wasted in my instance.
