Cayin N8 TOTL DAP: KORG Nutube, Dual AK4497, 4.4mm phone/line out

Oop, you have bought the Romi BX2, that very efficient, you really are pushing the limit of portable playback. So it works well with D8000, how about your beloved TH900?

The N8 and E02 of N6ii are the only unamp balanced line out in our DAP product line, this is not a commonly available feature, you really are using your N8 to the last byte and bit.

The balanced line out feature in N8 and N6ii have opened up a new corner in our hobby, I am sure there will more new toys down the road, maybe one day, someone will deliver a dual Nutube balanced amp to fill up the gap that N8 has created. :beerchug:

Lol, I wonder if cayin might come up with this sort of toy
Question is would it be a N6ii module or a new version of the n8?!
Btw Andy what iems and headphones do you use with the n8?

The work-at-home headphone will be Meze Empyrean, portable IEM is my custom UERM and YB04.

There is no N8ii in our current roadmap, and dual Nutube in DAP is not practical unless we are aiming at Hugo + 2Go dimension (and weight).

To be honest I’m kind of glad that you will be supporting the n8 for a while longer. Can’t afford a new n8ii at the moment!

Why isn't Cayin making a desktop DAC based on N8's DAC section? It's bloody good. I will literally shill for you guys if you make one.

We'll support N8 for a very long time so you should feel good about that.

The fact is, even when we deliver a N8 successor "eventually", your N8 should sound as good as today: assuming your N8 remains in good operation condition.

But for the sake of discussion, I would like to hear from you (or fellow N8 users): what is the best timing to deliver a N8 successor?

Our flagship DAC is CS-100DAC, it is a better DAC then the N8, not sure if it is available in your country by you run into one, check it out and tell me whether you agree with that. :beerchug:

I think another couple of years. People get annoyed that AK have be flagships every other year while Sony has had the wm1z as a flagship for many years. Also, with Covid 19 I think it’s going to take a while for people to have enough money to buy a flag ship. To be honest the n8 still sounds better than the others (I own Sp2k, wm1z, lpgt, n8 and N6ii). The only thing thing can be improved is the ui. Btw the N6ii with e02 gets close to the n8 but the n8 is still better.

Not only is it not available in our country, but I wasn't even aware of its existence. I can't find it on Cayin's website either. Is it voiced to be on the warmer side like the N8, or the reference side like the iDAC-6?

Check out the description and specification HERE, it runs on dual ES9038Pro with four 6922EH tubes in the line out/pre-out circuit, you can adjust the sound signature of the DAC by tube rolling the 6922EH tubes, it can be neutral reference or warmer will full body, the choice is yours.
