Cayin N6iii: Nothing is Impossible with Gen2 User-replaceable Audio Motherboard

So I had the Sony WM1AM2 and I sold it straight away. Had the uncapped version. I like the sound of the N6ii much better. The Sony has no dynamic at all and the power leaves a lot to be desired. So I think the N6ii is much better, even with the standard module.
Interesting, I've the wm1am2 right now and it doesn't feel it it lacks dynamics at all

That may be the case if you listen to it alone. But go to a store and compare it with other players in the price range. In any case, I will never buy a Sony player again. In my opinion, you don't have enough power. Well, I only buy Cayin and Shanling from the Chinese manufacturers. I won't buy anything from ibasso again because I don't like their sound tuning with the increased upper mids. I specifically mean the DX 320. DX 300 just barely worked. And I will never buy Fiio. I don't like them at all. I've heard a few. And Ak is too expensive for the performance. I had a few in my early days. Ak Junior, 120II, Ak 240,240SS 320 and AK380. The N6iii can easily keep up with them. For the money it gets my full purchase recommendation!!!

Interesting, yeah I didn't like the dx320 at all either. I'll keep an eye out on n6iii, dx340 and d16 from ibasso are being hyped for their 1bit dacs allegedly being the pinnacle of dac chips

Yes, I had already thought about the DX340 because it has so much power. I need the power for the DCA noire x that I pre-ordered. But I prefer not to use iBasso. Afterwards I can sell the iBasso again for half the price. No, I'd rather not. I'd rather buy the C 9ii. Then I know that I won't be disappointed. And I have the N6iii and the N7, so nothing should go wrong.

Good point... Especially if the n6iii gets a 1bit module and not an r2r one (although both are great, the 1bit is said to be the pinnacle of dacs by many, but a module like that will render the n7 basically useless).

Even if it doesn't get 1bit, if it gets r2r and ak4499ex modules, that's a huge win, especially if they too have true lineout like the stock module.

I’d still prefer an r2r as 1-bit dacs could be a bit soft on transients.

It would be nice if all 3 motherboards would come. So 1bit , R2R and 4499 EX. Would buy all three blindly.

Stuff like transients are more on your IEMs, and headphones than the DAC. I have the N7 into a really old design amp right now. All the technicals are top shelf. If you were using DD based, maybe try out something BA or planar and see if it's still too laid back. I have a hybrid that is just laid back like that whatever you stick it into.

Amazing engineering. I was wondering how it'll fare today. Turns out, like a champion. I have a Cypher Labs Picollo too. This one is not so amazing anymore.

N7 folks. If you line out. Don't sell it. Use a good silver interconnect for an instant upgrade. That said. N6iii build quality is either as good as or surpasses the N7.

I also have an N7 and its definetily a hair softer using the same headphones/IEMs than say W4 or some other DAPs.
