Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP

Does this mean that the R01 Board can be used via Pre as it doesn't have a LO? Anyone see any negatives to this being done via a C9?

If you are referring to connect R01 phone out to C9 in Pre-amp input mode, then theoretically yes, you can do that. We need to wait till June before we can find out the performance with C9 Pre-amp mode.

Will these boards possibly be off use in future cayin daps? I’m asking as I have all the boards!

We didn't launch a new portfolio. The Titanium N6ii is exactly the same as your N6ii except the chassis. They even run on same set of firmware.

R01 is the final Audio Motherboard, but given the N6ii firmware are pretty stable, I don't see why you can't use it till 2022.
Actually I don't see why one couldn't use it even in 2025 and beyond.
On the Desktop side of hifi, 5 years or even a decade of useage isn't rare.

Biggest Problem with DAPs will be the battery life after a few years of usage

Streaming services and their apps may become incompatible with older versions of android. Which would defeat one of the main reasons (in my mind) to get an android dap over one with a custom os.

N6II Ftw! Looking forward for a motherboard, even after 2 years this dap still stands it’s ground, heck, there’s even daps released last year that wishes to have n6II hardware capabilities and interfaces! So excited! At last I will try an r2r implementation!!! :)

The unique modular design has extended the product life of N6ii, there is no doubt about that, but we have to admit that our competitors has release new models that offer better processing power and screen, so we are not surprised that we are less attractive to certain groups of customers.

The R2R will definitely open up new possibilities. R2R was a very distance option to a lot of headfiers, but R01 makes it accessible to N6ii users, lets see if this is really a well-received option in N6ii community,.

Were there any other technical details released for the r01 that I missed? Or just that it'll be a r2r type dac with no line out and it'll be around $600 usd.

Can anyone point me in the general direction of what benefits an r2r dac brings to the table? I ask as someone who uses the e01 exclusively with iems (don't really see the benefits of balanced), and almost exclusively for streaming via Spotify. That's a high price tag to add on to a 2 year old dap, that's running an almost 4 year old mobile OS that seems unlikely to get any more updates.

I think the easiest way to understand R2R technology and sound signature in DAP context is to read about reviews of other R2R DAPs . I can think of the following DAPs to start with, anyone can fill in if I left something out:

Luxury & Precision: LP6 Gold/Titanium, P6, P6 Pro
HiFiman: R2R 2000, HM901R (probably too new to have any review at this moment)

Yes, you are correct.

I'm so glad I didn't buy one yet and neither the new A&K Se180.

R2R Board was exactly what I was waiting for.
New Titanium R2R Edition looks like the perfect opportunity to get one
Any chance on bundles with the C9?

Since R01 didn't have Line out features, so it's a bit odd to pair them up "officially", the chance to have a bundle with C9 is .... very unlikely, but you can propose to your dealer and they might offer a good bundle deal for you.

One should mention that all those other R2R options listed here are significantly more expensive than the N6ii Titanium

The Hifiman R2R2000 Red is probably the fairest comparison, although that one is a few hundred bucks cheaper
