I think we will see that in their N6ii in a year or two.
Just to chime in on the Cayin N5ii if there’s a remake:
- SQ is basically perfect for me, don’t change
- the small size form factor is basically perfect as well (balance between portability and screen usability)
- battery life is ok but can be improved
- UI is super slow and can be improved
- a carrying pouch would be appreciated
- a 18W USB charger would be appreciated
- AP mode with TIDAL or Spotify on would be nice
- more internal memory or ability to use external memory for TIDAL would be good
- price is pretty good but I would not mind
paying $100-150 more for the above
Don't we need a N6 before a N6ii? Or a better named Cayin device when this series is 'upgraded'?
The N5iiS actually is appealing to me from a hardware refresh perspective.
It’s so ugly lol.
My bad. Lol. I could see how this was overlooked though. Eeeww!
It wasn't overlooked. It's just kinda old, now. I nealy bought it at one point, but went with the AK120II instead.
As for ability to use external memory for Tidal, we have explained it before: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/cay...tal-audio-player.862763/page-73#post-13991523
I have aleady Pm you. Please check your PM box.
Hi, yes, Spotify music files can be saved to SD card and currently Tidal music file can only be saved to the local storage.but Spotify app has some issues regarding offline storage, playlist might unsynchronized due to various reasons, please refer to previous discussion for more detail.
For ability to use external memory for Tidal. I found same issue on ibasso dx150. This issue is resolved in Lurker00 firmware. The solution is Grant SD card write access to all apps.
We have grant the right already, if not, spotify won't be able to access the TF card to synchronize offline playlopl.
Thought I'd chime in and mention I just got a balanced cable for my PM3's andthey sound glorious with the n5ii. I was on the fence about the leaner sound signature compared tothe fiio x5iii, but this setup is just so clean, articulate and detailed. The pm3's are relatively low imp/highsensitive as far as planars go, but with the added power (and whatever other voodoo cayin put in their balanced amp circuit) the things really sing.
Let's get tidal in board with this sd card bug and the n5ii, for the money, is unbeatable.
If Cayin can figure out how to pack a balanced ladder DAC into a portable they will have won the insanity in audiophile awesomeness award.
Balanced ladder DAC as in R2R?
