Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150

Hi guys!
Some time ago I have purchased N3. I like everything. From the box it was 1.1 FW installed. From the official site I have downloaded 2.1 and installed it successfully. Everything is functioning except for Bluetooth.
When from the main menu I enter BT and push On it slides for some time but later goes into Off. No new items appear (apt-x, HiBy), and there is no Scanning bar. I have downgraded to 1.2 - BT is working, apt-x and scanning are present. HiBy apps on my smartphone connects with N3, and everything is ok.
Has anybody faced such a problem? How to solve it?
ps. and with 2.0 and 2.1 I have reset to default settings, changed microSD card, but BT still does not work. :disappointed_relieved:

Hi, N3 v1.2 doesn't have Hybylink function, and you can check it in this link: http://en.cayin.cn/download/show?id=13510 . But you said "I have downgraded to 1.2 - BT is working, apt-x and scanning are present. HiBy apps on my smartphone connects with N3, and everything is ok.", how did it happen? I have doubled check my N3 and the BT function of V2.0&V2.1 could work smoothly with my N3. Maybe you can reset it and reinstall V2.1 to see what happens. I would like to see if any other customers have the same problem?

I just noticed these IEMs being offered on the Cayin site as a bundle with the N3. I can't find them anywhere else. Can they be bought separately and what is the price? They look gorgeous. I can't even find the price of the bundle much less the IEMs by themselves.

(I just bought an N3 a week ago so I really hope you can buy them separately.) I noticed the "non-pro" non-tuned for N3 version on amazon was about $109.

Is thier any way a future update can let us add add the time? just to manually add the time would be great.....since the N3 has a timer to switch itself off, surely this is easy add?

I believe this is unlikely because N3 cannot connect to the atomic clock for reference date/time, and the only "clock" we have inside the DAP are two crystal oscillators, they are good for their designated purpose (digital audio synchronization) but not time keeping.

Andy said some time ago in this thread (search with "this thread only" option) that is not possible to add the time (please, search for the exact answer).

I personally like the N3 doesn't show time, I prefer this way.

Thank you very much for your support. :smile:Yes,you are right. Andy has said that before: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/cay...oax-out-for-150.833932/page-162#post-13543450.

Hi, N3+EN700Pro Bundle has been sent to US and UK retailers and its price may be US$269.99/£199.99 or so. Right now, they cannot be sold separately. Which country are you located?

You can see the contact methods of retailers UK and US below:

When the lock screen setting is on it does stop me from accidentally pressing the buttons on the right side but it does not prevent me from accidentally changing the volume. Screen is off of course. Will there be an option to lock all the buttons?

Hi, thank you for your suggestion. But we are trying our best to bug fix and enhance our N3 DAP, we cannot accommodate requests based on personal preference, and cosmetic-based suggestions will have lower priority over bug fix and function/feature based requirements.

Truth to be told the N3 sound very good but the design, especially the front buttons, is disappointing. I personally don't use many of the features like gapless or playlist but rather stick with the old style file organization for each album (hence me hating Apple products that don't allow you to organize your own music the way you like it or to upload into the device your own music files at all).. and I like the pauses between the songs.

I have a question, not really related with the N3, but because I have just convinced my wife to get rid of the iPod nano 6th gen finally and to let me buy her a proper entry-level audiophile dap. So can anyone share an opinion about the Ruizu A50, as I have read and heard only good news being the best in the 40-50 pound range? Just trying to introduce her into this audiophile world as well, baby steps :)

That is the Simgot EN700 Pro. Penon Audio has them only in blue/red (USD 199). The black/red bundle with N3 does look better.

Hi all - just got tour review unit, and haven't been keeping up with the fw, so looking for a little help. Just tried to connect my FiiL Diva via Bluetooth. N3 isn't seeing them. Phone sees them fine, as does the FiiO's and the i5. Have there been any issues with Bluetooth (before I go searching)? Thanks.

Scratch that - upgraded fw, and it connected easily :)

That's a shame about the time, I was just logging on to ask the same question, as I've been travelling on planes quite a bit over the last week and usually have my phone turned off, so it would have been nice to have a reference time on the player

Hope you like it. I think it's a pretty solid DAP.
